About The Event
GII Deep Stretch for Cyclists is a slow but deep practice targeting persistently tight areas supporting cyclists in three key ways (1) improving flexibility, (2) building strength, and (3) breathwork.
Flexibility– As miles add up of being hunched in the same position, the shoulders, neck, chest, hamstrings, and hip flexors all can benefit from the deep release that yoga can provide. Stretching can improve flexibility and range of motion, as well as the recovery time needed after training on the bike.
Strength- Ensuring muscles and joints are strong and stable are essential for optimal performance on the bike. It is especially important to work on strengthening the core and abdominal muscles which are connected to the lower back, to help alleviate back pain and promote spine flexibility.
Breathwork - To stay relaxed and focused while riding, it is important to have some control over breathing. A steady, smooth breath allows you to calm your mind and connect with how your breathing affects your body and performance. Breathwork puts this focus front and center by reducing shallow chest breathing and promoting deep belly breathing.
